Hi,

I want to take my 3 children and ponies away for a couple of nights in the summer holidays. We would ideally camp in our horsebox and the ponies would stay in paddocks overnight. I’m looking for recommendations of where would be good to go. We are based in the East Midlands so don’t want to travel for hours.

Field Farm Mumby is a possibility although it’s quite dear for what we want and also looked at Whitehall Farm Norfolk. It’s not crucial that we are near a beach but lots of off road riding would be great. The children are quite young so not fussed about xc courses etc. We just want an adventure really. Any recommendations would be great.

😊

Another HHO'er and I stayed at Cotswold Rides at Eastleach Downs Farm with our ponies a few weeks ago. It's just outside Burford and the hacking is almost all off-road and quite amazing. The owner puts together packages to suit your needs and you can camp next to the pony paddocks. Thoroughly recommend it.

A few places in Norfolk immediately spring to mind!

I haven’t stayed at either but my friend used to livery at Mill Farm and it’s even closer to the beach than Whitehall but hacking isn’t as good other than beach proximity.

Courtyard Farm is beautiful (I walk the dogs there almost daily) but, again, haven’t stayed myself. The hacking is incredible all around that area. You can hack to Holme Beach from there, mostly off road, but it would take 45mins/1hour each way.

There is also https://www.homefarmstables.com/

But I think it’s more up-market and not a camping place.

I’m not sure how available any of these places would be this close to the summer holidays though! Good luck and have fun :)
