Just wondering if anyone has been to the above and would love to hear thoughts on the course! I've never been but contemplating entering the novice horse class, is the course suitable for a novice but brave horse? Thanks =]
Hello,
I haven't done it for a couple of years now since I don't hunt with B&BMH anymore, but it is a lovely course. The open is actually quite challenging, but the others are quite straightforwards. They have a little water complex and it all flows round very nicely. I love the atmosphere there, I'm actually quite jealous I'm not going!
The water is quite small, and inviting. Depending on which way round the course runs, you will either approach it from a distance and the horses will have a lot of warning, or you jump a small wall and then have a few strides to the water. Usually they allow you the option of either jumping or trotting into it, apart from in the open course. It really is a nice place to go, as I say- I wish I was doing it now, used to be a local favourite! X
Hey i go yearly as its a fantastic corse which is really well built which are few and far between, both the novice and open are decent corses, the novice isnt pathetic id say between 2'6 and 2'9 but there isnt anything tricky, your horse sounds like it will be fine! I think the novice is a small drop into the water nothing too scary but if your struggling there is a run in which is always a back up option. Usual fences tyres, timber, little ditch, brushes, steps. Badsworth are also having one this weekend at Frickly which is ment to be very good corse and theres another one in April/May time aswell as campsell,if you want anymore info let me know!
