For those that have followed mine and Arlos journey you will know I bought him as a very nervous rising 4 year old who I had to completely reback as he was terrified of pretty much everything, particularly men! And the process of mounting was always stressful for him.
We had a very much 1 step forward 2 steps back progression for a while and there were many times I doubted if he would ever trust me. I have worked really hard with him and for me I honestly can’t fault him anymore he has confidence in me and he does worry or tense up anymore however I’m new situations or with new people he can revert back. But he has really turned a corner and now my instructor rides him once a week. My yard owner jumped on him and popped a couple of jumps and he was a superstar and then this weekend my male friend who is a complete novice got on Arlo and had a stroll around the school and he was foot perfect.
He tensed when first mounted but relaxed instantly and then was a star, he has just made such progress and is turning into such a confident trusting little horse.
he also hadn’t been ridden for a week and I jumped on and had a little pop round some jumps for fun. He’s just the best!!
