Mad question, but I went CR jumping last night and managed to part company twice.

Would a head cold that seems to have settled in the ear nose and throat region contribute to the splat factor? I feel like the world is a little muffled at the mo and everytime I swallow or yawn my ears crunch.

In all honesty I am probably looking for a reason for my appauling riding, but I did wonder if this would affect balance.

mmmm...... I think a trip to the doctor may be inorder while I am still covered in bruises.

I have bruising on my hip, lowerback, arm and would you belive it.... chin.

Thankgod for body protectors and poly jumps.... the latter tends to collapse when you hit them!

I would say definatley yes, your reactions would be notably slower and just the general crappiness of a cold would also mean that your concentration was affected. Hence, parting company and ending up with knocks and scrapes that make you feel even worse is far more likely to happen.

I would add thank god for lemsips, hot baths, and echinachia too!!!

If your cold is mainly affecting your ears, nose and throat, then yes it could affect your balance.
I had a bad cold the other day, and I felt so blurred, and nothing was making sense!
If your ears are popping everytie you swallow and yawn, then I would say the cold is beginning to lift.
I'd stick to relaxing hacking for now!!!!

Colds can cause a loss of balance - hope you feel better soon.

Think I will pretend I have a nasty cold next time I fall off!!!

Joking apart I suffered for some time after a head cold as a miniscule particle had moved in my inner ear. Apparently if it touches one of the little hairs your body doesnt know which way is up. I felt Dizzy a lot. If I bent down to tie a lace I fell over and I had to call a halt to a lesson as I couldnt cope with riding around corners.

There has been research that shows that driving a car while you have flu (I know that isn't the same thing as a cold

) can be more dangerous than driving while over the alcohol limit. So yes riding with a cold would make you more likely to fall off, due to balance problems and slower reactions. Hope it clears up soon.

hehe I use it as an excuse everytime I fall off

but yeah, it will affect balance, judgement, etc (especially if you are taking drugs for them) so yeah, put it down to the cold
