Horse got kicked in field around 2-3 months ago on the right hock. Wasn't lame at time and wound gradually healed on it's own, though can still see slight scar where it was.

Had a week off while i was on holiday soon after this. Brought back into work and while working brilliantly on the flat he started being stick with his jumping with run outs and hit a couple of fences xc. Instructor thought was a lack of confidence with both of us. Got eliminated in sj part of local ode (85cm) which usually he would fly round. Got personal best dressage score that day so not lame in any way.

Worked on building uo his confidence jumping and he happily popping small fences and smaller xc fences.

During all this had new saddle fitted as old one was causing him pain. Now all sorted with better fitting saddle and he going better than ever on flat.

Give him a week holiday about 3 week ago and he come back into work stiffer than usual. Had physio check his back while at yard and she said was slightly sore in back though was much less stiff when saw him in february, however she said he was bilaterally lame in back legs with left one worse.

Had instructor to lunge him whilst she at yard few days later and she agreed he wasnt quite level and was quite unsound on lunge.

Turned him away for few days on one danilon a day until vet comes out to check him out and do vaccinations. Physio and instructor both think that it is arthritis in hocks, which most likely true as had a steroid injestion intro one hock around 4 yr ago with previous owner.

However he is really sensitive when doing anything around the back right leg, especially around the hock joint and kicks out. Could this be a cause for the lameness even though it was so long ago?

Thanks for reading :)
