Can a saddle really be so unhelpful?

These people will advise you if you do a template and send you a saddle to try, including Thorowgoods, which have to adjustable tree, but IMHO are better saddle than the Wintecs:

Have you tried a memory foam seat saver? Not expensive if you get one on ebay and your bottom will thank you! I have 2 saddles, one of which has a v flat seat; lovely to jump in but hideous to hack out in

Have you considered using a Thorn pad? They are very popular in showing, and not just for little ponies. I LOVE mine and feel very secure in all gaits and jumping. Best of all, it will fit forever no matter how wide your horse is!

fatponee, there is no way I could use a Thorn pad, I need something with a very narrow twist to compensate for my knackered hip(s). It is the same reason why I can't ride (hopefully just at the moment) in my Mattes Lammfel saddle :/

I've not seen the Wintec Wide fit anything properly, usually fitted too wide they are seldom fitted in balance and this is probably your issue. Try rebalancing it with a wedge of gamgee etc, will feel better for you but probably even worse for the horse.

They fit mine perfectly fine. I have one in a 1 time wide plate and the other in a three times wide plate. But I have a fitter trained in the cair system.
