Hi
Am set to bring a youngster in for work. He's just been re-backed and is now ready to go on.

Are there any books out there with a nice programme sort of thing?Otherwise I'm just going to 'play' with him a bit.
Many thanks

My absolute favourite is Jennie Loriston Clarke's Breaking and Training the Young Horse :D Richard Maxwell's From Birth to Backing is also quite good. Both are more aimed at initial handling/backing though, you may be wanting a more progressive book. I think Pippa Funnell has one but I've not read it :)

Making the young horse the rational way is a good book and, as well as the initial backing process explained, it also goes into training after in quite a lot of detail.
Agree that the poppa funnell book is good although it does lack detail in places and obviously it has a focus on eventing

I've used both the pippa funnel one (very scant on actual backing detail but great for once they are ridden away. Def eventing focused mind you) and the Richard Maxwell one which is def more useful for handling and actual backing.
