Have tried to catch my Max on video, but so far unsuccessful. He can push the gate open, get into the paddock, then when finished he can stick his head around the end of the gate and pull it back open.

Just wondering can anyone else's horse do this, or any other amusing tricks?

Oh, forgot to mention, he also closes himself into the paddock for some reason haha!

Well it's not really a trick but its very funny! My old Andalusian used to pick up the headcollars from off the ground when I turned him out, shook them around and then chuck them in the hedge!! He also used to take off my other ned's flymask with his teeth!!
My little shetland plays with the headcollars too! so cute!

It's amazing what you can teach a native to do with a few pony nuts

Bring grain, bring hay, open gate, shut gate..........

Ellie says please, by lifting a foreleg in the air until she gets a treat! Trouble is, she then proceeds to paw you if you dont have anything in your pocket!

Mum's pony can count; if she claps four times, he will paw the ground four times; if she claps five, he will paw five times. Also, my instructor had a funny tale of a horse he taught to stop dead at a whistle - it was majorly impressive, until one day he was in the middle of an SJ round and someone whistled their dog...and the horse stopped dead! He didnt teach any other horse to do it after that

Darcy will lift his foreleg for treats too. Then will also wave it around like a moron even when theres no treat there! Ha, did it once trying to get to my mints on the window ledge and kicked the grooming box. queue shower of flying white plaiting bands and very scared horsey!..not gone for the window since:P

my stallion does various things.. also the stop dead to a whistle.. doesnt really count though as hes a x trick/stunt/film horse!

my little pony plays fetch, he puts his nose thru cat flap and jumps out of field all tricks not vices!!

my tb throws buckets at people when they walk past her stable! highly amusing if there not expecting it!

Jethro loves to give kisses, especially when my hands are full and his nose is covered in mud/ feed/ water. Nice!

Amber doesnt do tricks as such, but she likes to come at you at full pelt gallop then stop almost toe to toe with you (unless you leap out of the way of course).

Not discovered any tricks that Binky can do yet though.

Frank does the top lip thing a lot too, although particularly after pony nuts so he can enjoy them more I think!

He also waves his bottom lip around whilst sucking polos.

nothing very interesting though.

I knew a riding school pony that was good at maths!

If you asked him a simple maths question (like 1+2) then he used to tap his feet with the correct answer! He rarely got the wrong answer!

He was also very good at going "lame" every saturday morning, to get off work! He looked amazingly sound going back towards the stables when 30 seconds earlier he couldn't put his leg on the ground...

Another riding school pony I knew in London used to bow - he'd kneel on the ground with one leg, with the other stretched out in front of him, and then put his head between his two front legs!

Another used to tap dance when music was played...

I think the riding school was actually a circus, or at least it should have been!

My sons pony kisses to command but you have to give her a kiss first, if you don't she won't kiss you, she also does the top lip thing at almost anything she finds funny.

My girl 'helps' me muck out. When she was on box-rest I frequently had to muck out around her. After watching me opening and spreading the shavings a few times she started pawing them once out the bag and spreading them around for me!

She was never neat, but the thought was appreciated

well, when merlin is tacked up and then tied up (headcollar over bridle) he manages to take off his bridle and keep the headcollar on!!

its a bugger of a thing really, i cant travel him with his bridle on because when i arrive, he has taken it off!! I still cant work out how he does it?!?

I used to know a riding school pony who would stick his front leg right out to the side and trip up whoever was leading him before trying to run off.

Micks unties his leadrope. No matter how well you do it, if he's got one on him he'll undo it and wander off.

Mouse took his rug off once-one of the Horseware ones with an attached neck. It had two bits of Velcro on the neck, the clips at the front, two x-surcingles and leg straps. YO found it lying in the field still with all the straps done up! Still a mystery of how that happened!

Fitz can undo velcro and shoe laces, its very annoying and I curse my mother who taught him when he was on box rest. He has to have brushing boots with buckles.

He can also do light switches, and before we moved it would turn on his stable lights when he wanted to be let out in the morning.

His favourite thing is removing your scrunchie with his teeth, and if you are wearing a wooly hat using his nose to pull it down over your eyes. Most amusing!

If you leave him tied to the outside of the lorry at a show, even for a couple of minutes he unties himself and comes to look for you. Fortunately he stands fine inside the lorry with the ramp down, or I would never get to go to the loo!

My lad always helps spread a new bale of shavings..............I just stand back and let him do it
