Can anyone explain this bridle to me?

Was scrolling through eBay last night came across this bridle and I’ve never seen anything quite like it with the additional neck strap/ring in the middle? I don’t intend on buying it but it’s not something I’d seen before and was hoping someone with a bit more knowledge would be able to explain why it’s might be a good / bad design. Thanks!

The bridle is the Equipride Anatomical Bridle with Additional Neck Strap.

Look at the Equipride website, they don't seem to stock these on there, however, it's available from amazon dispatched and sold by Equipride.
The ebay seller is some 3rd party seller.
Here's the blurb given for the bridle:

Equipride snaffle bridle provides significant relief for the horse's sensitive neck thanks to the additional neck strap with extremely soft padding. The cheek pieces of the nose and bit straps are connected to the poll straps via a ring, there is no direct transfer of pressure to the poll through chewing and swallowing movements. The almost vertical course of the neck strap behind the ears also releases the jaw joint. The facial nerve and the plexus are bypassed.

I wonder if this was one of those 'let's try this and see if it sticks' things that possibly didn't pan out, and has been quietly shuffled off to more outlet-y stores to disperse the stock.

Initial thought was that it an attempt to combine a head collar and bridle, though doesn’t look to detach?

Thank you - Yeah I did have a read of it but was sceptical of what they were saying. I don’t have the best understanding of bridle fitting / biomechanics so couldn’t really come up with any real reasons why it would or wouldn’t work! The additional strap just made me think it would create an extra pressure point though.

It does seem rather superfluous! Like, what benefit is it even providing? 😂

It looks like a theoretical attempt to distribute pressure through the ring at the cheek and spread it between the poll and the point further back on the neck. I'd have my doubts that it achieves very much at all, but you'd need to try it to see if it has any effect before dismissing out of hand.

The one thing I like, as mentioned by another post, is that the cheek pieces are well back from the eye - giving probably more comfort and better vision. But they don’t mention this as a concept in the rationale, so I guess it’s not the reason.

Their penultimate sentence is interesting in regard to the angle of the neck strap to the bit - wonder if this has any benefit. Overall though it looks complicated and ugly.

It looks like they are trying to relive pressure from the head but I say it takes for ages to get on and off and to clean as well .
