Why I can box my mare and take her to a show on her own and she behaves impeccably (sp?) but when I hack out up the road like 10 minutes... where we go every single time we hack out... theres a gorse bush monster which makes her spin and run off

Somewhere new everthing in new and they seem to accept that, but somewhere familiar the horse notices small differences since the last time they passed it and it doesn't look the same as they remember so they are suspicious. my old mare was very sensitive to this, it can be frustrating but when you think from the point of a prey animal it makes more sense.

Frank is much much much better away from home.

Oh really, I think people assume they are going to be worse away from home, but as I am beginning to realise the scary monsters are lurking just around the corner, not at shows
