Can anyone explain what this means (in an advert)?

Like many of us here, I'm a bit addicted to browsing horse for sale ads, especially local ones. :redface3:

I see all sorts, foals "out of" stallions, :rolleyes3: ones with good breaks ;) etc. I fully understand not everyone has had a decent education, and some people are dyslexic, and usually I DO understand what's meant by each statement, so in the end, it doesn't matter.

However this sentence has me stumped. Does anyone know what it means? It's an ad for a coloured foal and it says:

"This foal has got action that talk about them being white and this is white."

:confused3: :confused3:

Errrrmm..?

Action could mean high knee action as he moves, maybe? He is a mostly white 'coloured' so that could be what they are getting at, but it's not easy to work out what they mean for at all!

No idea what it means unless he's missed out a bit and is then going on to comment that the poor little thing has very little colour on it and is mostly white.

The advert that has become a legend in our family just read "Very small pony for sale, has been sat on". We have never managed to work out whether it being sat on was responsible for it being small. Had it been squashed perhaps?

I think it means the owner admires the way the horse moves, probably got a strong trot with knee action. The rest means that its just has a large amount of white in its coat, ie minimal coloured.

Maybe it means: This foal has got action, they talk about them being white and this is why. ???

Adverts that don't make sense really annoy me, I don't have any qualms about dyslexia etc but people could at least try and make an effort and proof read. I don't understand how they think they're going to sell a horse if you can't even decipher the advert...same goes for pictures, it's not hard to get some decent confo and ridden pictures of your horse!

Maybe they wrote the advert from their phone, we all know what pre texting's like, you end up sending something totally different.:)

Did anyone read the full page ad in H&H from Shane Walsh Equestrian this week. It was SO full of punctuation and other wierdo errors it was a disaster! Don't know if it's how the copy was delivered by them - or an H&H cock-up. If H&H did that to me, I'd demand a free repeat (corrected!)

I can guess it's something to do with good action and being white, but beyond that I remain baffled. :confused3:

I agree Flaxenpony05 that anyone can have their ad proof read. The truth is, I'm sure most cases of badly-written adverts is an education or attitude issue. I have dyslexic friends with degrees or who hold down jobs requiring a good standard of English. The word dyslexic is often misused IMO.

dont know and would avoid adverts all of this type. pony looks very poor in advert anyway.

I'm not looking at adverts with the intention of buying. It's just a habit from before I got my own horse. I started looking at adverts and daydreaming...

Even though I now have my Mollie, and there's no question of my having a second horse, the browsing adverts online at night habit continues. :redface3:

I think it's hard to say from the photo how poor this baby actually is, but I see that seller's name a lot on the site and his animals often look rather sad and sorry. :(

Can I join the support group please? I have to check preloved as a daily ritual otherwise something bad could happen!!!

I have something to share with the group. :redface3:

When I see a horse I like, I keep checking the ad's still there. Then when the ad goes, or is marked as sold, I feel bereft as he/she's never going to be mine now. :(

Even though they never were going to be anyway! :D

"This foal has got action that talk about them being white and this is white."

Swap 'that' for 'and' and it makes sense, the pony can move and is just white (almost)!

saw a rather funny typo in a horse ad in HH few weeks ago.
Seller was doing the spiel on a young horses and had written 'broken earlier this year, not working well on the flat..'
Sure enough, next week advert was repeated with 'broken earlier this year now working well on the flat.

For the want of a one letter typo the whole advert was ruined. :o

Ps. Have not the foggiest what OP's ad's statement means.

My favourite ever was a wanted ad which went on the lines of "wanted, true bombproof first pony for overconfident child and very nervous mother!"

I'm not actualy going to buy a horse, but I hate it when I see a horse I like that is more than my budget.

Even though I cant afford to buy one anyway and have no budget :o
