I have been lucky enough to have been given some more detailed information about George from his breeder and I now know that his a bit more of a Heinz 57 horse than I first thought :D (not that it matters in the slightest). I have found out that George's sire was an appoloosa tb x called Crushed Ice whose sire was Mummys Pet. George's dam was a welsh d shire x called Bramble! I now have a picture of George's sire, but would be interesting to see one of his Grandfather :)

Unfortunately no baby pics of George himself :( but I did find out that he was a late foal and not born until October, and didn't get to bond with the other foals as he was still with his Mum, which might explain some of his insecurity issues in the field  All interesting stuff to know, and very kind of his breeder to contact me :)

Have had a look but cannot find anything definitive; they all seem to be showing pictures of racehorses who were sired by him but not Mummy's Pet himself.

Hope you do find piccies; post if you do!

How is the lovely George by the way? Never seem to see you on here now :(

I think he was dark bay, with super-long pasterns. Rats, I have a book of TB stallions which I got for a school prize ( :p ) and Mummy's Pet was featured in it. A few photos and an account of his race and stud career plus pedigree. And of course this book is at my parents' house, in Norfolk... I think it's this one – 22p on Amazon if you're curious!

I've actually got a picture and details about him right in front of me at the moment - from my Sires of '84 annual. If you give me a few minutes, I'll try and scan it in and then get it on here, but if not, if you want to PM me your email address, I'd be happy to email it over to you. If anyone else is interested, I'm sorting out our library of racing books (from Timeform to Horses in Training to Sires of ?????) loads of books from about 1950+. If anyone wants to know whether their ex-racer is mentioned in any of them, feel free to ask. I do intend putting all these books up for sale (well, the duplicates anyway of which there are hundreds) so if anyone is after a particular book, then let me know - it might be one I have - there are only a few years missing.

Here goes. I've scanned the page in, so if it's not very clear - PM me and I'll email over the information or will just crop the photo, enlarge and email over to you if its of any good to you. I do have the other years but haven't got time at the moment to see if the photo is different or not.

Hope this helps anyway.

Hello. I have just seen your post. My grandfather was the owner of Mummy's Pet. Growing up they talked about him all the time. I remember going to visit him as a little girl. We have several framed photographs of him at home. I will see if I can scan and send them to you. Do you have an email address?
