Can anyone give any reviews on liveries?

Hi,

I’m looking for advice as I am fairly new to the equestrian world…

I am looking for a livery yard which, ideally, offers full livery. I have narrowed it down to 2 liveries which are Nicoll Farm Stables and Cowley Hill Livery. I would like a yard that, regardless of your riding experience/knowledge, would be friendly and very helpful and would not judge you! I know some yards can be very cliquey so I would ideally like to steer clear of those!

Lastly, cost is not too important just so long as its not thousands a month!

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what you want. Without going into details I'd say the two you have mentioned are very different and would appeal to different people.

What do you want to do with your horse. Some yards are very competition based, great if you want that sort of environment but not if you're the only happy hacker on the yard.
How important is turnout, Do you want turnout everyday winter and summer.
Do you want off road hacking
Or do you want arenas and show jumps, cross country course
What about opening and closing times Do you socialise at the yard and want to hang around chatting with other liveries, some places really want you to ride and go and don't encourage hanging around.
Do you like big busy yards or small quiet ones.
Do you like more of an informal atmosphere.

Just a fews thoughts of things you may want to consider when making your decision.

Wow - so many things to take into account...

I think turnout is very important as I do not want my horse to be confined.

I definitely do not want a competition yard, i don't think? I would just like to spend time with my horse doing the occasional jumps and go on lovely hacks. If I meet people at the yard then that would be great, but a less busy yard would definitely be better for me.

Do you know these yards? If so, can you share your experiences?

Many thanks for your comment :)
