Hi all,

This is my first post and I need help!

I am relocating to Aldbury, near Tring in Hertfordshire from Derbyshire and I need to find stabling for my horse.

I don't know anyone in Hertfordshire and I think I am going to struggle to find somewhere.

I have had a look on the internet and have found a few yards to contact but the main problem I have is that anywhere advertising online is (or seems to be) a big yard.

My pony is a 26 year old fell who is used to the quiet life. Our current yard only has 8 horses and Ebony is extremely happy there. We have previously been on a yard of around 60 horses and it didn't really suit Ebony.

So. if anyone knows any small yards that offer either DIY livery with the option to go up to full livery occasionally (for when I travel back home or go away) or somewhere that do part livery with the option to go up to full I would be ecstatic if you could give me any info at all.
We don't need any facilities at all, just as close to year round turnout as possible.

If anyone is from the area and knows where there are tack or feed shops that will have notices that would be a huge help also as I don't even know where to start.

We will be living in Aldbury and I will be working in Redbourn. I can travel a max of around 6-8 miles to the farm, obviously the closer the better. If somewhere was on the way to Redbourne I could travel a bit further afield.

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated

Would chesham be too far, know a yard with 24/7 turnout all year round and is 8 miles away from aldbury according to google maps. Has no school but is in the chilterns so great hacking for the area (probably nothing compared to derbyshire though!) and is much cheaper than other yards with only 2 other horses on the yard :)

Wow that was a fast response :D
Thank you so much for your reply.

Chesham isn't ideal as it would mean travelling the opposite way from work....but if the yard was perfect I could give it a go.

If you have a number or an address that would be brilliant. I am travelling down for a few days in a weeks time and would like to visit a few places.

Have you looked at Stocks Farm in Aldbury? Biggish DIY yard literally just up the road from the actual village. Nice stables in two barns, all year turn out (24/7 in summer if you choose) although most of the horses are in groups of up to about 10 but generally smaller and split into mares and geldings, with large fields and good grass. Nice enough surface, FAB hacking and lots of very helpful friendly liveries. PM me if you want anymore details :)
