I have decided to do a memorial plaque for my friends who lost their TB mare they doted on, but im not sure what to write.

the plaque is to go outside her favourite stable as she always had tantrums when she had to go into a different one. She was incredibly irritable mare who was often seen biting, kicking, pulling faces, but to those of us who knew her as long as we did that was just her. She always did whatever job you gave her to do and she loved her work. All this being said she did throw some super funny faces as she use to wobble her lips when she wanted something.
anyway, just to give you an idea as to what she was like.

Im gonna start with her show name and then her stable name underneath, the dates at the bottom but i have no idea what to write inbetween??? any help would be much appreciated

many thanks guy

Just a thought..... how about Rainbow Bridge? Ive got this outside my old tb stable and it just reminds me that we will meet again and that I still think of him daily and love him eternally but that's just me hun. Do what your heart tells you do no one can really tell you as you know the owners and their feeling for there beloved horse and know how much heartache they have gone throught since the lose of their horse. I always think if it comes from the heart them it means more.:)

Someone wrote on a card for my hb, 'sleep peacefully', I thought it was lovely and made me feel calm to read it and happy that he was at rest with no stress or fear.
One of those very personal things really, I'm sure you will know the right thing as soon as you read it!
Another lovely line I have seen (think it is on Kokopelli's signature) 'those that shine the brightest cannot shine for long' - or something similar to that.

'Dont cry because it happened, but smile because she did.'

I love this phrase, makes me smile of the memories of Benson, not cry of the memories of when we lost him.

Topclass - yes i was thinking of that, i have seen some great plaques on ebay of all places. they have a small picture in the corner adn then the poem of rainbow bridge with a small corner for what you want to say. trouble is i dont want to say too much but i dont want to not say alot either. She was a really special mare so full of character and im struggling to find a line that describes her

I was thinking something along the lines of........

KELGILLY'S DREAM

'Beau'

something, something, something

sleep peacefully and now run free with Charlie and Troy

then the dates???

What a lovely thing to do for your friend. I always think of my old boy everytime I read this but then he really was my world.
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear

The blue cross does a memorial site http://www.bluecross.org.uk/1765/Pet-memorials.html

an example is one I left for my horse Miki:

and my beloved horse Rommy:

It really helped me to start to heal and move on being able to leave a lasting dedication to my lovely friends who I missed so much. Hope this is of some help to you or your friend.

Applecart14 thats a great idea, never new they did that. It sounds like you havent had much luck either :( unbelieveable that i am struggling to write this as i have lst 5 now in 10 years you would of thought i would have some words to say by now!!!!!

Some years ago when my daughter lost her first TB the ILPH (now WHW) did a scheme where you could plant a tree with a plaque dedicated to your horse. Ours went to their centre in Norfolk and they planted the trees to provide shelter and shade for their rescue horses - I thought it was a lovely idea. I am not sure if they still do this.

Oh no thats dreadful, five horses. I lost four in just under seven years. Being a one horse owner it was very hard. But so glad I have my current horse now.
