Can anyone reccommend yard boots that last longer than a season?

I'm on the hunt for yard boots / muckers / wellies which I can wear day in day out, hopefully but not necessarily ride in, and which will last more than a winter without splitting. And which don't cost a fortune. I'm beginning to despair.

So far I've tried... Hunters (Split after about 6 months) Shires Muckers (2 months) Dublin Muckers (about 3 months I think - but they rubbed so they didn't get worn that much.) Joules (3 or 4 months). Those cheap ones you get from Rydale at shows ( 6 months.) My current are MudRuckers which I love - bought in the January sales and now.... split. My Mountin horse riding boots are still going strong after about 3 years - but I don't muck out in them.

I would really like not to pay more than about £40 - £60. But maybe thats my problem. Do the really expensive ones last better? Or is it just me destroying my boots? Does my horse have corrosive wee or something? Help!
 
I shall follow the answers to this one as I have the same problem. The ones that have lasted the longest so far are the 3/4 length muck boots. Find them a little warm in the summer. I think there musy be something in horse wee that makes them go so quickly.
 
I love my Mountain Horse yard boots. Have had them for about 6 years now, some of that time I was working on a yard and wearing them for work and riding. I think they are slightly over your budget but would be worth the cost.

Any wee will rot boots I'm afraid.

I also have a pair of Mountain horse muckers that so far are doing fantastically, but I didn't get them until towards the end of winter so will see how they do once the horses are back in!
 
I've had my Mountain Rider Classic boots for a year now and they are fantastic - wear them mucking out, getting horses in etc and also riding. Very warm! Need to waterproof them every now and then but otherwise brilliant boots. And when it's cold or i'm riding I just wear some chaps with them.

I hope they're the kind of thing you're looking for - I know a lot of people prefer longer boots.
 
My extremely cheap (£15 in the sale) Derby House thermal muckers are still going strong after 14 months. Slightly warm in summer mind...!
 
I just know that everyone is going to disagree but my Dubarys have lasted over 4 years now and not even begun to wear. I wash them off everytime they get muddy. I have worn them in the sea paddeling at least 2 times a week when i walk the dog and even the salt has not effected them. I ahve probably treated them to leather balm once a year at most. They are great in the summer and winter with welly socks. Up untill March this year i ran a livery yard for the previous 4 years and they were worn 24/7. I know they are more expensive but in responce to your question, do more expencive boots wear better, i feel they are fully worth the outlay.
 
Mountain Horse Rough Riders are fab. I've been using mine daily for just over two year. They have steel toe caps and steel shanks. Water proof and warm. What more can a girl ask for. In fact, I found another pair in the sale (different colour) and bought them to put away for the day when my old faithfuls give up.
 
i go through boots really quickly too
for yard duties i use aigle neoprene boots and they've lasted 6 yrs now! inc being used to awlk dogs and bo beating!!! best boots i've ever had!
for riding i use old dubarrys - they've lasted really well but a bit too big round the calf for me now - so for day to day in the office i use my new dubarry's

My mountain horse paddock boots are coming up to 10years now and they're still ok. Gone through loads of hunter wellies so only wear wellies when I need to
 
My Ariat Grasmeres will be coming up to their 3rd winter- wear them most days for around the yard and riding- they are so comfotable and last well- yes they are pricey but worth it! They also have some rather nice new cheaper yard boots coming out soon which look good.

I also have a cheapo pair of the Just togs Nevada tall yard boots which look nice but arent half as comfortable to wear- they were £40.
 
My aigle neoprene boots are probably 10 years old now. However only worn in the winter as too hot for summer use. Still look good as new - honestly.
 
My Ariat Terrains are about three years old, used daily, including mucking out five horses in winter and for riding. I even took them on holiday this year as my walking boots kill but the ariats were fine.
