Can anyone recommend a dog-friendly holiday?

Have found a good few sites on the net. Just wondered if anyone had been anywhere with their dogs they thought was just brilliant?

I'm not really fussy, by the sea might be nice. In the middle of nowhere would be cool too

I go to my aunt and uncles cabin in north west Wales - south of Port Maddog. Its in the middle of nowhere, you can walk for miles and not meet anyone and most of the beaches are doggy friendly

I think they rent it out to non family members, I haven't been for a couple of years (since I got the second horse - coinsidence?

)

Peanuts came to Sardinia and had a fab time, she didn't like the overnight ferry crossing so much but then she loved all the swimming she got to do once there

Hi Skewby - I'm hijacking your thread as I have been looking for somewhere too

I keep finding nice places, only for them to be totally unsuitable even though they say dog friendly

Lots of one dog only (and we have 2). Many charge a really silly amount if you want to bring your dog, and some I have come across that don't allow dogs in the house but they have kennels on-site that they have to stay in. There are also ones which don't allow you to leave your dogs unattended in the place - which I can kind of understand, but its a bit unpractical, expecially self-catering and you want to pop to the shop to get groceries.

So will be keeping my eye on your post thread

We took 8 dogs to Cornwall in November! The people who owned the cottages were SO dog friendly, they loved out dogs, they were allowed loose in the cottage (we kept the pug pups in pens but the others were loose as they're toilet trained!!). It was only £25 a night i think, and only 10 mins drive from Perranporth beach and about 30 mins from St Ives. We're definately planning to go back. I took my horse as well but I am not sure if they still take horses as I believe they were selling some of their land off ... Really nice people though.

Can totally recommend national trust cottages, some of which take two dogs. I've stayed here twice and loved it:

We take dogs, and horses if you want to bring them www.ballhillfarm.co.uk Only 2 miles off Dartmoor so hundreds of acres of take your dogs walking. All our local pubs are dog friendly too so no need to leave them behind when you go anywhere.

Skewby I look after a holiday cottage at my yard that very happily takes dogs (and horses, even children!!), its very isolated down a long track and you can walk straight from the cottage onto the moor.
