Up until now, I have used a master saddler, but am not very happy with the fit.
To explain, horse is very wide, but also has a reasonably high wither with considerable pockets of muscle wastage on each side. This has been put down to his age (21), but I don't think it has to be the case that just because he's older he must have muscle damage
My physio commented on it and suggested padding (this was six months ago) so I called saddle fitters out. They sold me an all-over riser pad, but told me there was no need to change the gullet in his saddle (he's in a Wintec Isabell with a red gullet at the moment). I feel that the too-narrow saddle is preventing correct muscle development, as I've seen no change in his back over this time period. Obviously, with the pad underneath, it's even tighter than before...
Can anyone recommend a fitter who will listen to my concerns and work with me to find a solution? Thanks
