Otto had photosensitivity last year which saw him kept in a stable for 6 weeks ,a secondary infection and a £900 vet bill. Ash discovered today that he has tiny scabs on all 4 legs.I've ordered turnout boots for him and will get some flamazine from the vet tomorrow but can anyone recommend a good sunblock which will stay on for 12 hours.
thanks in advance.

I've used this for the first time this year:

And I must say it is by far the best I've ever used

E45 do a factor 50 total block - it's brilliant and doesn't come off.

Another vote for this product, used it a while ago on a pony with a large white nose, because it's so thick and provides total sun block the pony never got sunburn whilst using it.

Funnily enough, I have found the thick stuff, Be tends to wipe off (onto anyone and anything possible

), and therefore the stuff that is absorbed works better for mine

No no no! Not sudocream as a sun block! Any greasy creams intended as ordinary barrier creams (against dirt, nappy rash etc) will start to fry the skin! Any total sunblock is fine, or one for kids that is water resistant. Sadly, I've never come across a sunblock that is field/grazing resistant for more than a few hours at most. Just a thought - if any horse suddenly becomes acutely photosensitive where it wasn't before, it might be worth getting a blood test done to rule out ragwort poisoning.

Ambre Solaire SPF 60 Kids hypo-allergenic waterproof formula is fab. Non-greasy, doesn't smell and doesn't wash off when horsey has a drink.

Best bit is that it is frequently half price in most supermarkets!!
