Can anyone recommend a head collar which won't rub?

My mare is getting quite nasty rubs from wearing her headcollar in the field but our yard refuse to take it off as she is an absolute nightmare to catch and they bring her in in the evenings. Can anyone recommend a make which uses a really soft fabric? I'm going to pad it out with sheepskin but just wondered if there was any other brands out there or anything else I can do which could help?
Thanks

My horse lives in a head collar for the same reason (although I'm the one catching) and I alternate between two leather ones, a padded JHL one and a gibsons horses in training one. I don't like the aesthetics of the gibsons one as much, but have found it's better in the rain as much lighter weight and also the throat latch clips can sometimes rub so the gibsons one is better as the buckle is flat. I personally wouldn't go down the route of trying to pad a field head collar as I imagine most padding would go pretty manc in the rain and mud.

Id also opt for leather, much safer than nylon and as long as its kept clean and fits well it shouldnt rub. I wouldnt pad it out with sheepskin, unless you are going to change it every few days to keep it clean, id think it would hold onto dirt, mud and grit and only cause more rubs.

The best one I had for the field is a cheap £1.50 nylon one from my local farm and pet. It never rubbed and the metal roundings on them were small and square, the head collar was so soft and un stiff, it didn't rub my two when they wore them in the field last year. I always think aswell if they arnt too tough, then they would brake if they did happen to catch on anything?
