Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with stable manufacturers?
I'm looking to build a stable block and have had some people send me some quotes, but it's just so difficult to tell the quality of work from photos.
I've had quotes from National Stables, Redmire Stables and Chart Stables, has anybody had any work done by these companies?

My 26 year old stables are Broadfields- now owned by Redmire.
Have stood the test of time very well, creocote them at least biannually though. Have just had one plank rot out this year, and have had to replace the felt roofing twice, but touch wood in 26 years that is all that has had to be done.
26 years ago, was very pleased with work by Broadfields- which was basically turning up and assembling the stables, but am still pleased with the product today. My neighbours paid much more for their Scotts stables, also 26 years ago,but haven't maintained them and they are sadly falling to bits. I am sure they would have sttod the test of time much better had they done some basic maintainence,as they were lovely stables at the time.

Browns of Wem did my stables 5 years ago and they are brilliant. I opted for extra vents and windows, so they have always been very airy even in the summer. They have had quite a few good kicks from the horses but have no damage whatsoever - very sturdy. We've also been re-protecting the wood every two years, but I think this is a sensible thing to do with all wood products.

Can personally recommend Passmores. Ask to speak with Stuart Slaughter. I have a friend with a largish yard who was very happy with theirs and was at livery at another. All in good condition even years later.

hey, we have used west of england stables a few times and they have been very good, not sure where u r located but they do south of the country, although they may go further afield if u ask them. There stables have been very good-good luck!

We used Harlows as have a couple of friends and very pleased with outcome. Had extra top doors in back for in the summer and one perspex panel per stable on roof-makes a massive difference to the light and well worth doing. Don't need light on most of the time.

We have about 20 Redmine stables, built in three lots over the past 8 or so years. Very good service and very well built. At the time I looked at about 20 companies and they came out on top for most reasonable price for best quality stables.

We have had no rotting and will need to treat them this year for the first time, its definitely worth going for the most expensive wood / treatment if you can as will save extra maintenance in the long run.

I couldn't fault them really and have since recommended them to a couple of friends who have also been very pleased.

We used The Stable Company. They sorted out planning etc and were very good. A few weeks after the block was completed we found a leak in one of the roofs and they repaired it within a couple of days. The stables are now about five years old and they are great. If you are in Lincs you'd welcome to come and look at them.

Wow, thank you everyone for your replies. Sounds like there are lots of good companies out there.
Thank you for your offer jendie, but i'm a bit too far away, wish i had the time for a day trip out though :) (not that i like to have a nose at other peoples yards or anything :D )
Will have to get some more companies to send me some quotes
