Hi All,

I am looking for a nice livery yard close to Cannock, but even better if near the chase. I am looking for a friendly and well managed yard with at least a well surfaced outdoor school but even better if there was an indoor :)

Im really looking for DIY or assisted DIY, so really help with turn out if i cant make it up in the morning due to work or if i am away.

I'd appreciate any advice as i am new to the area and i am worried incase i end up making a bad decision!!

Many thanks in advance

Maybe a bit far for you but Haywood Park Farm near Shugborough is smack bang on the Chase. The hacking there is absolutely amazing. It's a wonderfully friendly yard. Totally DIY (but everyone helps each other out) you can leave your horses out 24/7 all year if you want.
Nice outdoor arena & a separate lunging pen & a paddock for jumping in.

Thanks for that. Yes that is a nice yard, but i would really need somewhere that employed someone to work on the yard - rather than relying on other people. Just in case :)
I know the school surface is not fantastic there too, and often cant be used when wet or icy!
Can you think of anywhere else, i am open to travel up to 30 mins - just need to find the right yard!!

Thanks again :)

Hey there, I have recently moved to rugeley and have started hunting for yards as after Ive had my baby in feb I want to get back into my horsey world, I found a few places, a nice looking place called Stafford Brook stables they are right on the chase and my mate has her horse in cannock I could find out where if you like, theres also a yard called hollyBrook in hednesford (I think). If you get stuck fo help I might be able to help you out with yours too as I dont have anything of my own at the mo but obviously being 6 months preggers Im a bit limited lol. :)

that is great, thanks for that Jess :)
I will check both of those yards out and I can get in touch if i find anything! I do sometimes have to work away or travel, meaning early starts and late nights sometimes. So just need to make sure he will be seen to if im not there.
Do you know if either of these yards have an indoor (and spaces of course!).
Cheers :)

buxtons are straight over road from chase and have two outdoors - someone on yard does assisted livery or full livery

Thanks very much! Do you have phone number for buxtons? I couldnt find that online!
I found watt meadow online so going to call them tomorrow :)
Do you have any experiences of these yards? Such as well managed and of course friendly and helpful :)
Thanks :)

Thanks for the link. I have emailed but will call tomorrow. That sounds exactly what I am looking for, hope she has spaces!!

yeah prob best to call! - if buxtons have no spaces then think they building some more stables soon. its lucy who owns buxtons but dont have her number - but denise does any livery work there - and she should know of spaces etc...

Mansty farm, between penkridge and Stafford. Good hacking and turn out, outdoor arena but pure DIY. Pm me if u want the number!

Is Lucy still at buxtons?? Didn't her and her husband split up ??

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Think Buxtons sounds like a good option, close to home etc too!!
Do any of you know what its like to be there on livery? seems a big decision to make so would love some opinions!! But it does seem to be well managed etc, which is reassuring.
Im a little concerned about crossing the road, but sure after a few times it would be fine :).

I was at Buxtons a fee years ago and still have lessons off Denise (she is lovely!!)
The only thing I didn't like was all stables outdoor and extremely exposed, no shelter for u or horse
Other than that it was a well run yard!!

I agree about that, was one of my concerns. Did you find that there were people up there on an evening riding a lot - or are most happy hackers? I was a bit concerned about being up there on my own on the dark nights riding!

Glad to hear you liked it though!!!

How do you find Rodbaston? Is it quite busy as it's a college? Might be an idea for me to have a look there too. Would be fab to not have to travel for competitions!! :)
