Can anyone recommend me a good joint supplement for my horses? I have previously used Superflex but it would be interesting to see what other users opinions are.
Thank you :).

Riaflex. My friend started her boy on it and I copied. It has all the right quantities of all the right stuff. I want to try turmeric tho

My old loan horse came to me with cortaflex .he could do a medium dressage test and showed no stiffness .off it he could barely flex his leg in canter he would circle it from the stifle . I tried as many different cheaper types of liquid and powder and none had the same results .put him back on cortaflex within 5 days he was back to normal -never bothered to question it again

I swear by equimins flexijoint with bromalin, I got to the stage I was going to pts my 21 yr old who was always lame and moved so bad and never came out of walk, I tried this after speaking to a local lady who swears by it and honestly I couldn't believe the difference. Started him on it last spring and within a month he cantered up the field bucking when my others cantered off. I had a tear in my eye watching it. He's improved so much he's actually coming back into work and moving really well.
I know its trial and error of finding one that works for your horse but please keep this supplement in your mind

The title of this thread on the "New Posts" link shows as "Can anyone recommend me a good joint".

I thought it was about something else entirely. :cool3:

Anecdotally I'd say that different horses respond best to different products; my current mare does very well on Cortaflex HA solution (high dose). My last gelding did best on Maxavita Maxaflex but didn't look too shabby on Equine America Kentucky Joint Supplement - better than when just on GLC2000 (a straight Glucosamine supplement). For my mare - and esp. in case I run out of Cortaflex HA - I do use Pernamax equine tablets in the coldest, dankest months, she seems to do better on a higher chondroitin dose than is often available. I have tried her on Equimins Superjoint HA which looks in formulation very similar to Cortaflex HA without the ASU but I couldn't get her to eat it, it does smell like bubblegum... I always choose products with Glucosamine, Chondroitin and Hyaluronic acid as I have always had older horses with wear and tear, and do find Devils Claw and micronised linseed useful too. Not tried the turmeric route as current horse is a fusspot and introducing one more thing just goes in my 'too difficult' bucket at the moment, never say never though.

I have tried cortaflex, Equiflex, Superlex. Equine Answers and a few more over the years. I now use Tumeric, linseed and ground pepper and my big lad has stopped clicking, older horse seems more supple, so am going to stick with what seems to be working.

I do agree with the above and my horse wouldn't eat Equimins either despite being the least fussy eater I have ever known.

I tried various joint supplements for spavins and SI dysfunction but found that none of them seem to work as well as Devil's Claw Root.
