Can anyone tell m e about glue on shoes?

Very expensive! My friend is getting one on her youngster this week as she keeps pulling off her heart bar. apparently they can last up to 10 weeks (that's if your horse can last 10 wks!) but you cant do much road work as they are made of aluminium or something! its costing her £60 for 0ne! Will let you know how she gets on.

I have plastic shoes on 2 of mine (they have horn problem with CPL) I import the shoes from America, they cost £22 per pair including delivery and import taxes when I order 12 pairs. Glue is £14 a tube which glues on the 2 front sets (hinds are bare). I also have 4 nails in each shoe as glue breaks down more quickly in UK climate. The shoes can be reset if not worn out - I'm getting 2 resets out of a pair so they last as long as if not longer than steel. Farrier charges £30 a pair to fit. I have them changed every 6 weeks - they are still tight but the hoof has grown, wouldn't like to leve them on for 10 weeks!!

My old mare had an imprint shoe (about 4 shoeings worth i think - re-done every 6/7 weeks) when she had laminitis in one foot (shod as normal on her 'good' foot), incredibly expensive, and she was on box rest the entire time, however the relief they provided to her was fantastic and i wouldnt hesitate to use them again if ever i had the need...
