Can anyone tell me about Copra???

We use it and its works really well for a variety of different horses - especially good for the some of the older TB's - they came through last winter lloking fab and maintained their condition on it with no problem:)

Our TB's get 2 mugfuls at night with their chaff - they get no other feed just ad lib hay - a sack costs around £15. Last year my sister used 4 sacks over the winter - combined with the chaff it was the cheapest winter for feed and more importantly the TB concerned maintained his weight and had a lovely shiny coat and plenty of energy without be fizzy:)

Here is said TB.......he is nearly 20 by the way:D

It smells like hot chocolate when its made up - never had a problem with any of ours eating it:D

Just add hot water for immediate use or if you use cold you have to leave it for a couple hours I think - we always use hot:D

I have used it this year for my WB who has ulcers as he had dropped a bit too much weight - 2 weeks of it and he is back to where he should be:) There is a 26yo TB on it as well who looks fab on it:)

We soak it, like you would with beet pulp. Costs me in the region of £19 per 20kg sack but as only one horse is getting it, it lasts about a month. (she has it for breakfast, and speedibeet for tea). It has 20% Protein, so more than the beet pulp.

Good stuff if your horse will eat it - I've used it for putting a shine on the horses. It is dried coconut - I can't stand the smell though! Most of the oil has been removed to make soap and other stuff like that. Then it's dried and sold for feed. You do need to be sure that it has been dried properly as it is susceptable to various moulds when drying that make it unsuitable to feed.

Only needs to be soaked for a short time, with cold water.

I've been using this for a couple of winters now - it was fantastic for putting condition on my poor doer Arab.

My two girls I have now are good doers, so only have it more as a supplement, and I make up a mix of copra and speedibeet. Although they dont need the help with their weit, i have never had m girls looking so fab and shiny. Between 2 or 3 my bag was lasting about 3 months - but I am just feeding a smaller amount with a chaff rather a compete feed. Now I have just 2 this winter, my bag is going to last even longer lol

Although a bag sounds like quite a bit, it does go quite a long way.
