Can anyone tell me what these are vet doesn't even know

Just wondering if anyone has came across these
Vet hasn't a clue not even a specialist at Liverpool
These are based on my horses eye lid
Vet said not to remove them inless they grow etc

But considering a specialist
At Liverpool even hasn't got and idea
I would of thought warts are the first things both would of pick up on
 
They look like warts ,they are in one of the most common areas for them, the horse is young,(much more prevelant in youngstock). I have seen similar warts on yearlings . Leave them well alone unless they are causing trouble. Usually they eventually go.

Look like warts to me too and my youngsters had them last summer. Just made sure they got a vitamin booster in their feed to help their immune systems and tried "bye wart" on them. All warts are happily gone!

Think OP your "specialist" vet isnt that special IMHO:o
 
now now MR not everyone can have a 'special' vet like yours....

OP - they look like warts to me too- what did the specialist say to you about them, is there anything in particular about them that is un-wartlike? Did you actually go to Liverpool, or did you send them a pic?
 
It's not just one vet it's two
One vet came out didn't know sent photos to a specialist I'n Liverpool
I think I be given a call tomorrow

ischa- Im very jammy as I have a brill cattle vet who is doing more horsey work these days to ask very silly questions to( and I do on a regular basis!) and There is an older horse vet that is almost Jedi like when anyone rings him up for advice.
Ive seen warts on my own rescued youngsters and a fair few while working in Uk. Pointy or round they DEFINATLY are warts! and If the vet cant see that from the pic youve posted here then Id be asking to see their certificates!!!


*btw im a vet nurse* so im not meaning to slag off your vets!! they just sound a tad ...well...pants:o
 
They're not warts because if they say they're not warts you'll pay out loads to have all these tests done on them to find out what they could possibly be.. When they are, in fact, WARTS!!

I would be having words with your vets...!
 
my 8 year old got a wart under her neck and my vet didnt know what it was i could see it was a wart i bought some equine thuja cream for £11.00 (after reading about it on here) it went black and dropped off after 2 weeks nothing there at all now.
 
My direct experience is only of one youngster I had that got juvenile warts, they looked like little cauliflowers not like that...
 
I'm guessing the specialist at Liverpool was Prof K and if so I would be very surprised if he didn't recognise them as warts if that is what they are. What exactly did the specialist say/advise?
 
It's a filiform wart, caused by the same strain of HPV as the common wart. I'm also surprised the vets didn't pick up on it. Filiform warts differ from the common wart in their shape (long and narrow). They're normally treated by simply cutting off at the base in humans, but on a horse I think I'd leave well alone.

Only thing which makes me less than 100% is the fact there's a few of them. Filiform warts are normally lonely little critters!
 
Given how close they are to the eye I'd be more inclined to get another vet (from a different practice...) to have a look than to try any home/internet remedies before a proper diagnosis. It shouldn't even offend your current vet given the location and their inability to diagnose.

I'm going to leave well alone and see how they go
If no improvment or get bigger then I will for second
Advice from a different practice
Hopefully they will improve by them selfs
