Talk about bad timing. I have a horsebox booked for a weeks time, and my horse is lame.
In the last 2 weeks she's been lame 3 times, I'm starting to think that when I thought she was sound, actually she maybe wasn't
Its her hindquarter that the pain is in, if you run your fingers along her back, putting pressure on, she dips/flinches away when you reach where the back of the saddle sits and also over her croup. She flung her head when I tried to do her girth up on the saddle.
Had my saddle reflocked just before all this started so wonder if its flocked wrong for her :S
Going to ring the vet tomorrow, hopefully they can fit her in straight away (vet on site) But I was wondering if anyone had any ideas, what I should expect vet to do? What tests, scans etc? And also what could be wrong?
Thanks

Would definitely get the saddle checked again as it could be wrong.

And also good to get vet in and depending on what they find would look also to having her back checked (but only with vet's permission).

Wouldn't really like to hazard a guess to what it could be as it's a bit like online doctoring you have a few symptoms find these are related to the worst possible thing and then get in all a panic. It could be a lot of things so would wait till vet has seen her, although would be surprised if they went immediately in for scans etc unless you have spoken to your vet before about this and there is some history in that region. But would definitely look towards a back person as the next step.

But good luck and hope she is ok.

I was going to ask about a physio or I found the best people for backs are the people who are human osteopaths who then have qualified to do horses :) It might be worth asking around to find good people around you.

Oh hun, horses huh

Speak to the saddler, if the lameness has only been since the saddle came back (it could be referred pain from the saddle region).

I know your vet is on site. See what the vet says about getting a chiropractor out to her.

Hugs hun.

Thanks guys
We have a back person on site too, she's very good, but she won't look at Roo until the vet has had a look because Roo is lame.
Fingers crossed the vet will have a quick look and get back person straight out. I'll ring saddle fitter as soon as Roo has been sorted :)
