We are a small registered charity based near Lincoln. We do not receive any funding and are currently desperate for funds. We currently have 17 residents with one seriously ill.
We rent our land and currently pay for everything out of our own pocket. We are on our knees.
Does anyone have any fund raising ideas?
We are organiseing a show for July to help raise funds but need to raise funds desperately now.
You can learn more about us by putting Silver Florin Equine Welfare into Google.
Any ideas would be apreciated.

Quiz nights and raffles are always popular, perhaps a fun ride?

Good luck

have you tried an appeal over the local radio?
it might be worth asking local farmers if they are getting to the bottom of their hay stacks and if you could have the bottom layer - not as good as the upper ones, but can be fine if checked.
local riding club might be willing to help put on a quiz night or something.
very best of luck.

<font color="blue"> It sounds like you need to get out there and get your charity known...... I think contacting your local radio is a fantastic idea. You should also contact your local paper and they would prob love to do a story on you.
Also, contact local &amp; county horse shows/events, either to be put in their schedules or even have a little stand at the show or both!?!
It may even be worth contacting bigger horse charities, such as redwings, ILPH as they may be able to support you or help you out in some way.... even if it just advise.

Best of luck

Our local hospice organised volunteers to do a supermarket bagpack (M&amp;S.... more discerning punters!) and we raised about £8-900 pounds, 3 tils, so 3 people for about 6 hours = 18 people giving up an hour each on a Saturday.
They also seem to do a lot of raffle type things and they sell badges and other branded things.
How about organised s ponsored ride, is there a local country estate that might oblige; I'm happy to pay £10-15 to ride around somewhere usually out of bounds.

Thankyou for all who has given advice. I have made a note of it all.
A bag pack sounds good. I have tried organizeing a quiz before - little takers. It is a good idea to contact rideing clubs. We do hold seminars which are well supported, good education but does not raise funds..
I am not good at asking for help but feeling despondant at present
We are in the same county as a majore charity. We get a lot of their work load but none of the funding. Everything costs and when you do not have funds its realy hard.
Thankyou for the advice.

If you run seminars and training ask people for a donation while they are there. Most people will pay to see a demo or talk. Our YO charges a fortune to go to demos, and that isn't for charity, in fact I'd go to more if the money wasn't all funding her place in the sun!!! :-)

how about an open day, with a raffle ect, do you run sponser a horse ect?? 1st prize could be an adopt a horse for a year.... that wouldnt cost you anything,

apple bobbing for the kids.
a cake stall

get the local radio to do mentions, and papers to cover it, and add on articals donations of spare rugs, feed ect is always welcomed,

an open day would also raise awaeness for you.

I was also going to suggest an Open Day. Have people bring stalls in to sell flowers, fruit &amp; Veg, bric-a-brac, anything. Also make sure youa have a cake stall and a food stall, these are big fund raisers. You charge a fee to stall holders or ask them to donate some or all of what they raise. You could also ask for donations for each stall to sell so that all funds will be yours. Mix and match all these things, and I think you should raise a fair amount. I am helping at a local Animal Hosital on Sunday by giving donkey carriage ride. We give all monies to the charity and do this for free.
