Think my boy has got a cold, he is 4 years old, very fit and healthy, yesterday he seemed to have a bit of a runny nose, to be honest I didn't take too much notice but got home from work tonight and he is quite runny and a tiny bit snuffly, he's a boxer and is still highly active and is eating and drinking fine. Will I need to pop him to vets in morning or is a cold in a dog the same as a person i,e, a virsus so no treatment, it just has to run its course ?

I have put a through drops of Olbas Oil on his bed to help his nose clear.

Thanks for any advice :)

No they can't get colds but they can get kennel cough which can cause nasal discharge. Is the discharge from both nostrils? Has he coughed at all?

To be on the safe side pls keep him away from other dogs as kennel cough is highly contagious and get him along to the vets in the morning. Keep him in the car till the vets ready to see you xx

Ohh wow thats worrying, its not actually a discharge, its just a bit of clear runny snot and its both nostrils, he did blow a couple of snot bubbles earlier, he hasn't coughed at all, but has sneezed a few times, I didn't take him out for his usual walk tonight because of it as I didn't want him mingling with any other dogs and didnt want him to get a chill.

I'll run him to vets first thing in morning (and keep him in car until vet is ready for him).

Thank you.
