can horses aquaplane??!?

can they? seriously - if there is lots of standing water on the road and you are trotting along a road can your horse aquaplane?

i was out riding with someone who thought we should stop trotting due to the standing water and i couldnt understand why the only thing i cld come up with was that maybe the horse wld skid and slide on the water if going to fast?

so can a horse aquaplane??

Hmmm sounds silly but you dont if your run through one. Did you know the road, I tend to not go through puddles if I havent been on the road for a while incase there is something dangerous in it.

I am a very fond puddle jumper though. Good canter along the bridle way track jumping over puddles.

No I don't think that's possible for a horse to aquaplane. I think the risk would be tripping and falling

its a main road and ridden it many a time. sounds like it was an excuse to go slow then! just got me thinking tho

Problem is, the roads are all so bad after the snow you never know what the puddles are hiding. So probably a good idea to slow down.
