Can horses make use of torchlight?

I know they are supposed to have great night vision, but how much use would torch light be to there visible spectrum?


My pony wears a headtorch on the way back to his field sometimes and uses it to search the side of bridleway for grass LOL


Also what colours do horses see compared to our perception of the world around us?

Surely light is light! They can use the light in their stables and surely a torch is the same, just smaller!?
From what i can remember horses do see in colour.
