Hi all well i was a very lucky girl this christmas when my other half got me British Dressage membership and said i can register two of my horses as well :)

The only thing is having looked at the horse registration form i have to use the name stated on the passport now mine are just run of the mill names (Sailor and Cheyenne) at riding club event i use there fancy names which of course is allowed. But i would love to register them BD with their show names.

now how do other BD members register their horses using a show name that isn't on the passport or if failing this can the horses name on the passport be changed with the issuing agency? One of mine is registered with the appaloosa society and the other has a wetherby's passport.

Any advice appreciated. thankyou :)

As they are both breed society passports and not generic ones you probably will not be able to change them, possibly extortionate charge if you could. As far as I know BD will let you add a prefix to a simple name which prevents the horse having a number, check with BD, but you could at least then have a unique name for them both.

What a lovely present :D

I've changed three horses' names this year. Two still include the old names in brackets under the new one, whilst the other one just has the new name. That was with three different passport agencies. About to change another done, but that's a fourth agency (Irish Sports Horse), so no idea how that will go.

Good luck! Let us know how you fare.
