Hi,
Bit of a long post - bear with me :D

Considering shipping my boy to the uk from where I currently live and although I adore him and would give anything to bring him, my dad is paying for half the costs and wants me to do research beforehand.

My basic question is would I be able to find a horse that matches this description for under £2500?

15hh
12 yo
Jumps 90cm-1m courses with ease
Successfully competes prelim dressage, working on novice movements - leg yield, shoulder in ect.
Loves XC - last outing placed 1st prenovice XC
Qualified for CYEF (Cyprus equestrian federation)
Has done 2-day eventing
Good with vet, farrier and physio
Good to travel, although prefers to travel with another horse

Thanks :)

I would have thought so. You're not asking for very much and the size of horse you want is possibly the least desirable so I think you should easily be able to find what you want on your budget.

You probably can buy something with similar abilities, but don't do what I tried to do and 'replace' a much loved and lost horse. It simply is not possible and always ends up in disappointment.

They are all individuals and it was a hard lesson for me to learn that when a treasured horse is gone he really is gone and one has to move on with another character and temperament.

Although I'm not so familiar with the pricing for 15hh horses, I'd suggest you'd struggle to get what you describe for under £2.5k. You'd probably get something with the "potential" to do it, but I'd wary of potential at that age as there's normally a reason it's not fulfilled its potential and if it has then you may be buying something with "issues" whether that be physical or behavioural.

Post in competition and training and see what they say.
He sounds perfect mother daughter size/age and he would do Nov Int teams. Horses like that get snapped up imo.

Even if you find one at that price, as said above, you need to take the time and petrol viewing (often several horses and the one you decide on quite possibly a few times), the transport to where you want, vetting fees and then it won't just be an instant great ride. You'll have to put the time in all over again to get a horse that will never be your original one.

If you are happy moving on from your current horse then I'd look. But I doubt there would be much in the price and if you are going to think about what your current horse would be doing in each situation I wouldn't consider it. I'd expect the difference either way would be too minimal to use the monetary side as a decider.

How much is it to bring him over to the uk? If he is still everything u want in a horse I would rather spend the money bringing him across then spend a lot of time, money and heartache trying to find a replacement.
Good luck with whatever u decide :)

It'll be £2500 to bring him. To be perfectly honest with all of you even if I could easily find something in the price range (sounds like I can't & have checked all the ad websites with not a lot of luck) I'd still prefer to bring him with me - I love him and it's better the devil you know and all that ;) I have to give up one horse before moving - 21yo ex racer with leg issues that would be cruel to travel all that way - it would kill me to give up both!
Thanks to everyone!
