Ok I may be a little cheeky asking. I have recntly taken on another mare which i would like to try a few things with. Unfortunatly i have no transport. I am hoping to do pleasure rides (would like to move onto endurance in the long run), training sessions on the flat until we get to know eachother a bit better. Although would be open to sugestions or even if someone wants company to ride with. Mt mareloads and travels well and i would obviously pay a contribution towards fuel. I am in the Insch area.

Im at the other end of Abs so not much use(and my lorrys off the road :-() But it might be worth contacting the SERC Grampian peeps and putting a message on their webpages. They all seem v nice. Also try local feedstores/saddlery places and big riding places like Fountain, they must have a noticeboard. Good luck and if I get my lorry sorted we can be newbies together, my neighbour does SERC endurance and Im dying to take the orange mare for a spin, theres already a Haffie doing it in this branch (but not a barefoot one I dont think!)

I don't know about Scottish law, and whether it is different, but if you offer fuel money or other compensation for a lift, the person with the transport needs different insurance than for personal use.

We Aberdeenshire peeps ought to get together sometime for a meet up.

I'm a member of another (fishing) forum and we meet up for events about 3 times a year. Pretty good fun, and a chance to share thoughts.

I'm not far from Loanhead and the woods.

I didnt realise emma69.
I have a standardbred that just doesnt get tired i think she is crying out to do endurance. I have put a message on the grampian endurance site on facebook. When this load of snow has retreated i think i am going to start to go around feed stores and yards putting notes up. Ive never done anything like endurance before and as i said dont have transport so have never really done anything before so i am finally giving myself a kick up the butt!!!!
I keep my horses at the bottom of Bennachie

We dont have a towbar on our car and i cant drive a lorry. Although we plan (or i plan) to get a trailer next year its just so i could maybe get to a couple of things this year. Also so i can meet some horsey people in the area (i have recently moved here) there also seems to be a lack of DIY livery yards around here

Hey there

I can't help with towing as also don't have a towbar or a box.

But idea of a wee Aberdeenshire meet up for the forums sounds cool.

Shame, I'm very near you as you know! But we don't do any endurance etc. we purely do BSJA and BE so not much help!

With regards to meeting people - you could join a local riding club? Upper Donside is the Insch area's one (I'm in Findon RC but they're based round Aberdeen and are more competition-based). UDRC do a lot of training things. I *think* they sometimes have training at Shaun Mardon's which is very near where you keep your horses so you could easily hack there?

I have spoke to shaun he think there may be some people wanting to do pleasure rides s im going to call back in there with a note to put up in his yard about lift sh aring and riding etc. I was ging to join one of the riding clubs but my bay mare is not very good at cantering just likes to trot! (may be the standard bred in her) haha! So i think im ging to concentrate at pleasure rides to then move up to endurance and go for lessons each month at shauns place each month.
Although every time i get riding then it snows again so we are not very fit at all!!!!

Awww so annoying, well if you are ever going to any of the rides or anything and passing insch let me know, Or even if you know of anybody in Insch area pm me Tamba
