Hi would anyone e mind taking a look at 3 short videos and giving me some cc back please? Happy to share over a pm.
Background:
5yr old Welsh D. Backed by myself at 3.5, lightly hacked then turned away for 6 months. Brought back into work for a few months, mainly road work, schooled about 5 times max. Turned away last October due to my pregnancy then brought back into work July time, just hacking out then he had 2 weeks off in august, moved yards and started working again mid august, mainly road work. However just this past 2 weeks he's being worked 5 x per week mixed hacking and schooling to build fitness. Now want to start concentrating on his schooling. Plans are to get out after Xmas and do some preliminary unaff dressage, long term goal affiliated dressage up to elementary level.
Had his 4th session in the school this week today and he has improved lots. He's a fairly quick learner. We do max of 30 mins work.
He's very green and I have been working on getting him to bend, a bit of shoulder in in walk and getting him going forwards.
Canter transitions need work! He often gets off on the wrong leg then when I pull him up to correct he gets anxious and starts running, unbalanced and then he loses it so we have to back right off before re-asking.
Also sometimes he manages to do a flying change mid canter?! (Unintentional on my part)
The plan was to send him off for a good week or 2 of schooling to further his education (I have a dressage trainer in mind who I know) However I want to get the most from this as expensive so want to do as much as possible myself with him before he goes! Then will have regular lesson with the same trainer.
Would really appreciate if I could pm a few of you for some helpful tips and advice.
Thank you 😊
