:( T'Khasi is on antibiotics and danilon atm, as his wound - on day nine, post gelding, we were doing so well - became mildly infected. Day eight, it was fine, day nine, it had scabbed over and he was swollen up and sore. This resulted in a mad dash to the vet last thing on a Saturday evening...I love my vet. He came back to the surgery especially to dispatch meds.

He has had it seen to, and is much perkier today. Swelling has gone down but it is still tender, poor mite. He was very brave about having it treated: no attempts at kicking, etc, and has been taking his medication without a fuss.

He has also found out about a fun game called "Wait Until Your Hooves Have Been Picked Out, Then Poo And Walk Through It!" :D This is a far better game than "Accept The Fly Spray I Am Applying!" apparently...flyspray is horrid. And smelly. He has mastered the disdainful snort re this.

Thanks, he is missing his fieldmate <a tiny bit> but loving having a big pile of hay all to himself. I think the hay wins out where he is concerned!

We move yards tomorrow. Vet reckons he will be fine to travel, but he will have to be kept in for 48 hours - yard policy - so plenty of walking in hand and more hay in his future. And then out in huge field. I may need a map to find him!

Good luck with the move. It's always a relief when they come off the lorry/trailer sound and settle quickly in their new home. Plus good luck with getting rid of the infection and I hope he heals with no further problem. :)

Thank you :) His old owner is helping transport him - we are trying to keep everything as familiar as possible for him. He has travelled before: from Cavan to Cliftenden sales as a weanling and back, then at six months from Cavan to Northern Ireland! And also from current yard to some grazing ten miles away earlier this year.
