Hi all,

My little NF pony has gone off to the local equine vet hospital today, he has not been right for a few weeks, lame on three legs which has not improved even with rest and physio. He is due to have a full body bone scan tomorrow as there is no point nerve blocking as its not obvious where the pain is coming from. He will be in isolation until Thursday and then depending on the results, possible further tests.

He was not happy at being left in the stable and made his disapproval perfectly clear by making a right racket, im sure they will have had enough of it by thursday! I kept him in last night as it was an early start for us this morning and when i left him for the evening he was rearing in the stable (he settles but not until everyone has left) - he is going to go stir crazy, poor lad! :(

If the outcome is that he cannot be ridden but be a companion, i will be keeping him or aiming at putting him on a loan close to home (as a companion as he is cheap to keep) no matter what anyone says as i do not believe in PTS just because he cannot be ridden anymore unless I seriously cant afford it.

I just hope the tests do not make my worst nightmares come true, he is a cheeky, funny, kind little thing, he always brings a smile to my face. He gives me a reason to get up each day even if I feel like giving up...

So, please can i have some famous HHO vibes? I really dont want to lose him like this.

Thankyou for reading, wine and diet coke is on offer!

Fingers crossed

, hope everything goes as well as possible.

Thankyou all!

Heard from the vet this morning and his scan came back relatively clean, ruling out KS, arthritic back and pelvis problems - very happy!

It did show up hot spots in his fore left foot and hind right hip so they are nerve blocking his foreleft on thursday when he is out of isolation.

All of this money and it may just reveal how much of a wimp he is!

Sending you vibes, good that the scan came back relatively clear, hoping they can find the true source of the problem and it isn't anything major.

Fingers crossed for you.

Im feeling pretty gutted.

he has done both suspensory ligaments high up and tomorrow his navicular bones are being x-rayed. my poor boy is well p'd off at being prodded and trotted up and i am gutted.
Hopefully he can come home tomorrow, i dont know where we will go but he is going stir crazy being stabled 24/7.

Any experiences of suspensory issues? Please tell me your thoughts, good or bad, many thanks xx

Oh no! So sorry. I dont have any experience of suspensory issues (touch wood) but am sure there will be many on here who do ... Really hope there is plenty you can do for your boy. x

Should have read second page before I replied :(

At least you have found out what is causing the problem now, and it's no longer an unknown and scary beast.

I don't have any experience of suspensory ligament issues, but good luck, and I'm sure you'll be offered some fab advice :)
