I have always had the use of my parents lorry, they have recently downgraded from a 4 horse to a lovely 2 horse, Mum only does ponies now she fine for her, but my 17.2hh does not fit in and I would imagine even if he did it would take her 3.5t overweight.

So its time I go it alone and sort my own transport, I didn't pass my test in time so do not have the 7.5t entitlement on my licence, and I own a 4x4 so taking my towing test and buying a trailer seems the easiest and initially cheapest option?

I share my yard with a transport company, they take me out and about as and when the are free to do so & they can point me in the direction of how to go about taking lorry tests, but can't offer any advice re towing

I would like to be able to take both my horse and a friends 16hh Friesian X mare, but do not know what trailer if any would take them both and if my Mitsubishi L200 would cope with it?

I have dug around on-line but cant seem to find any sited detailing weight limits etc...

I currently have a huge home-made choc cake on the go - Willing to share if anyone can offer me any kind of advice?:confused:

I use an Ifor Williams 510 which carries up to 2 x 17.2 hands horses. I tow with an Isuzu Trooper 3.1TD and it tows effortlessly. A lady on our yard had the same trailer, think it was the 505, and she towed with an L200 ok. Why not ring Ifor Williams direct for some help and advice, Im sure they would be happy to help you.

I think a l200 would do it... just at 2.7 tons however I think you would be better with something thats rated to tow 3.5 so you have some reserve if your going to tow two big horses . I would say take your lorry test..
