I would be interested in hearing your thoughts, good bad or indifferent on air jackets for general riding purposes, rather than competitive use.

I am considering purchasing one for everyday use, reason being I am in late 40's and suffer with arthritis in my neck and left shoulder (which is also prone to dislocate at whim..) I have been using a race safe bp for about three years. Which I do make myself wear, and yes I find it more comfortable than the rest on the market. But.....
I now know someone who has a point two air jacket. Which looks neat, isn't bulky or obvious and is much easier to ride in.

Sooo I am currently having a debate with myself is it worth getting one? If so which one? From a brief research the Hit air looks like it has better neck protection which is what is really important for me...

I am also lousy at making decisions, :p so thought this is an ideal place to get some opinions and advice. Any help appreciated xxx

I always thought you should wear a bp under them for true protection.
With one of these going bang like they do when inflation you may find it pops your shoulder out due to the force if your shoulder is that bad.

Thanks DizzyD for your reply. one reason for thinking about the hit air is it inflates outward rather than the other which inflates inwards...???

I too had read that they should be worn with a BP, but wasn't sure if that is advice for serious competition or if an air jacket on its own would be suitable for general pottering around  hence my post lol it doesnt take much to confuse me these days.
