Was just wondering if anybody could give me any advice.
I am wanting to use a stallion bit on my 2 year old welsh section A Colt?
Would the judges frown upon this? He's currently shown in a rubber in hand bit but has now become very strong!!
any advice would be helpful :D x

As far as I know.... not for two yo's.

You maybe need to invest some time oin teaching some manners before shows or review his feed?

Thanks for you reply. He goes out everyday and is handled everyday i never stop working on manners. He is just very, very coltish! I have seen quite a few 2yo's with stallion bits a lot taking championships at welsh shows etc but i'm still undecided! x

What about those magnesium calmers? Or... geld him if he is too coltish. Is he worth keeping entire if he's a brute?

He's already on that, and i would really like to keep him entire yes. My plan is to leave him until he is rising 3 and see how he matures! He does seem to be getting better with age, like i say just slightly strong! x

Well, I would ring the secretary of the show you are doing and inquire of the rules on the day... colts will be colts I guess  good luck and can we see some pics of your lovely colt?

Stallion show bits are for stallions only, I think a judge will expect to see young colts acting like young colts, they won't

Sorry silly phone, was saying...

they won't want to see one wearing a stallion bit, its not correct.

Just try to bare with him, all colts go through a stage of being strong, its what you do now in his training that will pay off later if you want to keep him entire.
