I am new to this showing lark and I just wondered if I can use a running martingale on my daughters pony in a first ridden and working hunter pony class. I would be grateful for any advice or do's and don'ts.

General showing and etiquette. It's only at local level at the moment but I just don't want to totally embarrass ourselves!

I don't think you'll do that, smiles and manners are the most important things. It's supposed to be fun.

Have you had a look around the internet to check your turnout? there are lots of good sources of info for that. Ponies on Parade have a web page dedicated to turnout.
Tweed jacket, brown boots and gloves, a navy hat (but black is no major crime either). Smart, clean and workmanlike. Flat noseband and browband.........

If you have a native pony, then let the hair flow (I have a coloured native and we do hair very well), if not, then plaits and a pulled/trimmed tail are the order of the day (you can get a tail rake to get the 'pulled' look' without doing the pulling, just don't use it on the mane or else you'll get spikey plaits

).

when it comes to an individual show - keep it short and sweet. It's not a dressage test, just show walk, trot and canter on both reins and you'll be ok. I suspect but am not entirely sure, but FR don't do a gallop.................

Have fun

I suppose you could if you are using a snaffle in the WHP, but am not really 100% certain about it in FR. Go along, have a look at what the others are doing.
