due to mud fever the vet has sugested i clip my mares legs to encourage air flow an allow the cream I'm using better acess to the skin. she is a TB X WB and does not have a lot of hair on her legs. she has never been clipped before and i don't own a pair of clippers.

i have seen clippers for horses heads that claim to be quiet and use a battery. these would be better as my mare has never been cliped before, but would they be able to cope with leg hair. i only need to do from hoof to hock on her back legs.

i have a some £9 clippers from robinsons-uk.com -

they are purple and are fab for legs/face.(ive used them on both and using them again today!)....

:)

a lot of trimmers as more than ok to do legs with. especially as I would imagine her coat is fine and soft. You may be unlucky and get some which aren't up to the job if you pay too cheap and they are not recommended by someone who has used them for that.

hope that makes sense

I have some Liveryman trimmers and a set of Wahl trimmers, both of which do a perfectly good job on my IDx's legs, head etc etc. She won't let me do her legs from thigh down with normal clippers but these do the job perfectly well. I have had both sets for at least 4 years and had no problems with either of them. The Liveryman trimmers were ~£60 and the Wahl ones ~£45 a few years ago
