Only a local unaffliated show, Intro B test but I never get to go to any shows and really want to use my browband that I bought at a horsey carboot sale in the summer! I've got no chance in hell of placing at this show but thought that I may as well look good being crap!

LOL, one yes, one no!

Why Jane wouldn't you use it? Is it because it's pink or because it's a bit OTT? :D

I'm doing the test side saddle so I'm going to stick out anyways as I'm the only ss rider around here and Hattie is dark bay so it does look nice on her. It's only a VERY local dressage show, most people hack to it- think little kids on fat hairy ponies, happy hackers to dressage divas.

I'd say go enjoy yourself and glam your day up, chances are the judge wont know correct sidesaddle turn out any more than the vast maority of the rest of us. If its fine to bling up your horse with crystals than whats wrong with a bit of velvet.

Have a great day.

I'm in North Essex and i saw a sidesaddle competitor at our local affiliated dressage last weekend, so you must be increasing in numbers:)

Just personal preference, less is more. I love pink, but wouldn't wear it at a competition. If you want to use the browband then do so and good luck in the competition. I've always wanted to ride sidesaddle

I use my tan leather bridle, which has diamonte patterns on them for un-affialated & a boring black with a crystal browband affialiate.

Go for it & have some fun!

If there's no rule to say you can't and you like it then I say do it.

Local shows are supposed to be fun aren't they? The purists I'm sure won't like it and yes, I have no doubt some at the show may make the odd snide remark but as long as you don't care about that then go for it.

:)
