Can I wear these ?

Hi all,

First time post so go easy ! I’m looking for some positive advice and or opinions.

I haven’t been riding since I took lessons as a kid. I don’t know how to go about finding someone in a quite or preferably private yard that would be willing to let me ride a horse of there’s in return for some work ?

More importantly I’m looking for someone non-judgmental that doesn’t mind what I show up in..I’ve been buying & returning god knows how many men’s breeches that just don’t feel comfy. I’ve read some forums in here about tights etc and the general consensus seems west what your comfy in, needles to say I still worry.

So to get to the point, how do I go about finding a suitable yard ?

Can a bloke really pull off the below ?

To get back into riding I would say go to a good riding school, re-establish the basics before asking around for yards who will let you ride their horses. People are precious about who they will allow onto a horse and those who are not, probably would put you up on something that could be dangerous.

With regards to riding wear one of the men may be along to offer advice, the thread title does not shout read me for them though.

yes agreed, riding school as a first step. Wear trackies at first, or anything you are comfy in that isn't going to chaff. It's really not necessary to spend £ to look the part. Honestly, nobody cares! 😏 I worry the ones you linked might not have enough room where they need it.

Ok thanks for the responses ! I can understand people being a bit nervous letting a newbie on a horse, can’t blame them really.
I’m not to overly worried about looking the part, just being comfy/what fits best, trouble is once you go that far what’s a bit more for something that looks decent. The money one could spend here seems to be an endless dark hole..

Agree try a riding school to get back into it.

On the what to wear question, my husband took it up as an adult beginner and started in combats or joggers then got some cheap black jodhpurs. I would say he wore them at a looser fit than you typically see women and girls in, but they looked fine! (His were not that fabric though, they were more a soft jersey type material.
 
My OH went for his first lesson wearing grey trousers and heeled lace up shoes. I bought him breeches because his skin got rubbed on the seams but in the USA he always rode in jeans. Wrangler brand avoid seams that rub when riding.
 
I really wasn’t expecting all the responses. I’ve already got the above.. I was/am happy with them for fit, comfort etc. Probably just more concerned about looking like a bit of a goon to others.

Thinking now might be better returning them and settling on one of your suggestions in the links provided, get a couple of lessons under my belt and can always revisit the topic later.
