Can magnetic boots cause any harm?

Has anyone ever been told not to use magnetic boots by there vet? Dont really want to phone my poor vet again and ask what may be a daft question, but my horse is on box rest alley with "damage to the soft tissue structures of the hoof" - so read that as you may and i put my old girls magnetic boots on last night for an hour and again tonight - he seams to quite enjoy them but could i be doing any damage?

Try looking on the manufactures web site may give indication of when not to use, or try bio-flow's site. Can't think that they would cause any damage though, are they supposed to enhance blood flow or something like that.

They are contra-indicated for conditions such as cancer when it is thought that magnets can increase size/growth rate but no, they are perfectly safe for soft tissue injuries although whether they work or not is subject to some discussion.

I *think* that you aren't supposed to use them on open/fresh wounds or for the first 24hours after a knock or strain? Don't know where I've heard this though so I may be way off.

That's what I was told. I think they are supposed to increase blood flow so if you have a fresh wound or tear not a good idea but other than that OK.

My vet was deeply cynical of all the magnetic, supplement, herbal and alternative treatments I threw at the problem. Never told me they would do harm though.

my vet doesnt think much of them but cant do any harm - if its swollen then cold hose - i wouldnt put magnetic boot on for few days as increases circulation and you want inflammation to go down. but for general soft tissue damage they should help.
