I would be put off re; the price - i personally would be much happier to see a price with offers invited rather than nothing at all - How much would you ideally like to get for her - btw the girl next door to me at my yard is looking for an appaloosa youngster to bring on so will mention but rough price would be helpful x

Why would anyone be harsh because you are selling?
IMO if you are unable to afford/care for her you are doing absolutely the right thing!
I would also prefer to see a price. You can add offers invited, but you need to give people an idea of her worth!
Dont sell her for silly money either. If someone is struggling to buy a horse, chances are they will struggle with the day to day running costs too!

You don't mention hacking out/traffic, if she's seen shows etc, which might be worth popping in. I am assuming she's good to box/travel/clip/shoe etc by the fact you haven't mentioned she's bad at those things (which your ad looks honest enough that you would have if they were an issue) but other people may not pick up on that.
Only other thing is, your pics are great (she's working nicely) but do you have one of her stood square, un-tacked to give a better idea of her conformation?

I hope you can find her a nice home

I am guessing that there is little interest because it seems your horse has done loads for her age, in the pic she's jumping quite big etc, it would def put me off a 3 year old.

Thanks for your advice people. Yes, she is good to box, shoe etc, so I can add that, also have only been small hacks to date but we do go on our own with no troubles so can add that. I want to put a price in and I have no idea as I know its a tough market.Want a fair price so can people suggest something.
PS I did not think people would be harsh because I have to sell, may be be harsh about the pictures or something. So thanks all (lol)

I would personaly cut the advert right down. When looking I am really put off by long rambly ads, especially with something like *WOW* in it. Something short and sweet is much neater - you can say the rest on the phone.

Something like Beautiful Blanket spot Appolosa 3years. Working well on flat and over jumps very trainable. 100% box/shoe/clip/hack (if she is). Home more important than price £........

Good luck selling her she looks lovely!!

I LOVE HER! just wish she was a couple of inches bigger. I would take off how much you paid and decide how much you want. You could also put an ono on there to encourage people to ring.
i would put a photo up of her head and or her stood without tack.
I think you could easily get around 3/4k if she is as genuine as she sounds

Mmm, maybe thats true, its because I have had her since a baby that she has taken to everything in no time at all.Its not that she has done lots but has learned everything quickly and correctly as she trusts me and as such has been a pleasure to work with.

Thanks everybody for their help with my add. I have cut the advert right down, I always have too much to say about my lovely horse, also got a price now, cheers all.

I wouldnt touch her with a barge pole. 3yo jumping that big! Says shes three years and three months so that means she has either progressed to jumping in three months or was broken as a 2yo. Far far far far too much too soon IMO. Animal will be knackered and arthritic mess by the time its 15 at that rate. yuck.

Yes, I am well aware, though racehorses are galloped to their maximum from yearlings, my horse is a solid built Appaloosa stock horse who potters around a paddock and is 3 years old, working from 3 years, it is very different thing.

If you read the entire atricle then you will see that it is not just about racehorses, it goes into detail about the safest age to start ANY animal under saddle and the reasons behind it, only a small section at the beginning focuses on racehorses.

There is substance in this view of course, in an ideal world. I train horses for a living and am much more likely to retrain horses from kind hearted novices whom have been spoilt in temperament and have developed ridden vices. I never see horses from professionals who have trained young horses properly. Many a spoilt and untrained horse passes from dealer to dealer though only to end upa at sales, then what is the future for these horses? The world is not perfect, and you can criticise most things.

1) I would also be very put off at seeing a horse who has only recently turned 3 jumping a fence like that

2) You need some better photots. None of those really give an idea of her face and conformation.

3) I think she is over priced.

God luck in finding her a nice new home

As you are all aware, I asked opinions on a price because, yes she is young, but I have tried to show through the photographs an idea of her talent. I do train and reschool horses for a living, and she is the first one I have had who has progressed so quickly, because her talent and mainly her balance defy her age.
Yet for an Appaloosa this is not unusual, they are a quick growing breed and would be moving cattle etc at this age originally. I have only gone with the horse and what she is comfortable with. I dearly love this horse and I can assure you she is happy.
Im sure most horses out there are subject to there owners whims, many a time you will see an older trekking horse carrying a 15 stone man, with a slipping saddle, but is this ok because the horse is over 4 or 5 years? All riding can be viewed as abuse in one way or another, the very act of bitting and saddling a horse could be seen as to put it in chains-so to speak.

i think shes lovely and a credit to you.
i also dont think the jump is too big,
i think shes too young to go out jumping every week but 1 jump ?
i do think you have given poster a hard time.

she's not jumping that big? i don't really see what all of the fuss is about...

personally i don't jump mine at 3 but it only looks about 2'6ft and unless she is being jumped everyday, over courses etc it wouldn't put me off going to see her.

scarto- i congratulate you on holding your tongue so politely!

Thankyou for your positive opinions on the last few posts and also the first posts before they got hijacked. Yes the jump is 2.6 and my mare does love to have a little jump after I have done a little dressage schooling. I love my horse, and she respects me, even waits at the gate for me after I have fed her corn in the field wanting to come out when I dont ride her. Ive been training difficult horses for 10 years now. This horse, her names Pocahontus is my own personal horse whom Ive owned since a baby, really is the talented star, and actually she is a credit to me

So no negativity a happy horse and proud owner. And she could poosibly make 15.2 ish
