Can pregnant mares season?

10%? Crickey, thats a lot!

Mare on the yard is supposed to not be in foal, has seasoned, but has now dropped a baby belly whilst on starvation rations...

No idea if it's an older belly which has filled up (she's out of work atm) or a new belly and she just carried on seasoning...

Owner wouldn't get vet to have a look because of her seasoning... Will tell her the 10% statistic tomorrow!!

When you say 'seasoning' I assume you mean winking and squirting at strange horses, particularly geldings. Yep - lots of in-foal mares do it! My first year breeding I put 3 in-foal mares in the field behind the stallion paddock. Turned him out and within 2 minutes, all 3 were lined up along the fence winking and squirting furiously. He said: "Hi Ladies, see you next year" and returned to grazing! I breathed a sigh of relief!
