I normally feed speedi beet but was in need of some more as my husband was passing the feed store (25 miles away) I asked him to pick me up some feed he got sugar beet instead of speedi beet by accident so if I rinse it after soaking will it remove the sugar?
Added bonus £4 a bag cheaper with 5kg extra!!

But you will need to add minerals as they will also be washed away, and some other nutrients.
The thing is you know exactly what you are feeding with non molassed beet, but with the molassed nuts, you have a more variable product, and its more work!

Depends how precise you need to be as you cannot guarantee the final sugar level. Personally I wouldn't take the risk with a known laminitic or any horse with health problems where high sugar levels would be catastrophic. But for generally reducing sugar levels should be fine.

V it works exactly the same as soaking hay. Soak in masses too much water for 24 hours and drain. You will see all the dark molasses in the water. Wash again if low sugar is a critical issue.
