my un rugged sec D is putting weight on!!!!! PMSL she is on normal 2 slices of hay at night ( 3 if snow on flooor) no extra feed no rugs but Im sure she is getting fatter!!!! yep got gorgeous fluffy coat but feeling her body shes def bigger - grrrrrrrr wanted her slightly below weight for spring guess shes a damn good doer lol but must admit her coat is so lovely - dont groom to extreme in winter but daughter gave her a brush other day and mmmmm so shiny and gorgeous - and she looks so well - fat tart lol

Has she had any unscheduled dates with a colt over the summer lol ;) or maybe it just all the crimbo turkey catching up on her :D

All mine are putting on weight too!!! Even the 19 year old anglo arab (can understand the others, there's native in all of them somewhere!)

Must just be this weather making the grass a bit better than usual for this time of year!

ETA none of them are having hard feed either, and are working... :) Nightmare!

omg excuse me def no dates with any colts lol - oi she maybe a tart but im respectable woman please pmsl - her diet as stayed same - other than if grass is covered and i mean covered by snow then 1 slice hay more - no hard feed at all -handful happy hoof and 1 carrot. trust me her diet is same as when in in summer pmsl help meeeeeeeee lol resigning self to she is a fat tart and now due to eyes cant ride her as much grrrr

I'm with MrsM, give her 12 hour soaked hay, as much of it as she can eat. If you restrict her fibre intake her body may think she's being starved and will hang onto its fat reserves.

This is what I do but it has made no difference. I have a theory she hangs onto her fat because she was seriously starved as a youngster.. any thoughts on that?

No idea on her being starved as a youngster I'm afraid, have you asked the vet?

Is two slices really all she will eat? D was a complete ganet, would have happily eaten a bale a day if I'd let her.

If you want to try something else I'd NAF Slimline. Its a vit supplement with a little extra in it. Certainly worked on D.
