Can someone double check my calculations re Vit E?

I have a hate/hate relationship with the Equimins Vit E oil. our relationship is deteriorating in the permanently cold weather.

I'm going away for a few days over Christmas, so in order to make things easier for the yard staff who will be feeding T (who is now on a very complicated supplement mix), I wanted to move back to powdered vit E.

I've only checked the Vit E from Pro Earth as I know they will deliver here, but please let me know if there is any other suppliers I could possible check.

Natural Vit E oil (RRR)
3.25g = 1105 IU (1x 5ml scoop)
1g = 340 IU
30g = 10k IU

1000g = 33 days supply
1000g = 55.30€ = 1.67€ per day

Synthetic Vit E Oil (RAC)
1g = 500IU
20g = 10k IU
40g = 20k IU (needed as only 50% of synthetic vit E is bioavailable/absorbed)

4000g = 100 days
4000g = 94.83€ = 95¢ per day

Equimins Vit E oil
1g = 1000IU
10g = 10k IU

1000g = 100 days
1000g = 105.59€ = 1.06€ per day

Forage Plus Natural Vit E pdr
1g = 500IU
20g = 10k IU

500g = 25 days
500g = 39.22€ = 1.57€ per day

So, despite the increased volume, I'd still be better off (economically wise) feeding the synthetic Vit E from Pro Earth, or would you not bother with the synthetic at all?

I just didn't get the response on synthetic that I've had on the natural stuff - and that's from both the PSSM horses.

In fact I wasn't adding it to the one who is practically retired (for pure cost reasons) until he started to look a bit stiff in the colder weather so I thought I'd see how he went. He's had 2 of the forage plus scoops (I think that's 5000iU) and he's now feeling well enough to be naughty.

I've got a stash of plastic tubs that are designed to hold baby food and make up their supplements a week in advance. Its easier when its dark in the morning and the yard staff can just tip them into the food as well if they are feeding for me. For me now its powder all the way because its so much easier to add to everything else - but I go with Forage plus, Pro earth or Thunderbrooks depending on what else I'm ordering at the time.

I think your calculations look fine. Forageplus have priced their Vit E powders to be the same cost per effective dose, but their price for the synthetic Vit E powder isn't competitive compared to ProEarth, so you'd save by going with ProEarth. Based on research (and the article from FP looks pretty thorough https://forageplus.co.uk/natural-versus-synthetic-vitamin-e-horses/), you should get the same effect if you double the dose with the synthetic Vit E.
I wonder how many of the people who found the synthetic version less effective really did double the dose vs. natural when comparing? I've always stuck with the synthetic Vit E powder, and never supplemented at high levels for any particular condition, so can't say anything on comparable effectiveness based on my own experience.
